Hassan Abdulrazzak’s plays include The Special Relationship (Soho Theatre, 2020), And Here I Am (Arcola Theatre, 2017 and UK tour; Europe, Middle East and Africa tour, 2018-2019), Love, Bombs and Apples (Arcola Theatre, 2016 and UK tour; Golden Thread, San Francisco, 2018 followed by a second UK tour; Kennedy Centre, Washington DC, 2019), The Prophet (Gate theatre, 2012) and Baghdad Wedding (Soho Theatre, London 2007; BBC Radio 3, 2008; Belvoir St Theatre, Sydney 2009; Akvarious productions, Delhi & Mumbai 2010).
He had translated numerous Arabic language plays including Jogging by Hanane Hajj Ali (Gate Theatre 2019 and world tour), Chronicles of a City We Never Knew by Wael Qadour (reading at the Gate Theatre 2019), Voluntary Work by Laila Soliman (reading at The Royal Court Theatre 2012) and 603 by Imad Farajin (reading at the Royal Court Theatre 2008).
He has adapted Baghdad Wedding into a feature film for Focus Features, wrote an original screenplay called Cutting Season about FGM for New Century. He has also written four episodes for HWJN, an upcoming TV series commissioned by O3 and Image Nation productions.
He wrote an episode of The Good Listener, a BBC radio 4 drama series about GCHQ, developed by Fin Kennedy and Boz Temple-Morris which was broadcast in 2018.
His contribution to anthologies includes: A Country to Call Home (Unbound, 2018), Don’t Panic, I’m Islamic (Saqi Books, 2017), Iraq+100: Stories from a century after the invasion (Comma Press, 2016) and A Country of Refuge (Unbound, 2016).
He is the recipient of George Devine, Meyer-Whitworth, Pearson theatre awards as well as the Arab British Centre Award for Culture. Love, Bombs and Apples won the Bay Area theatre award for outstanding production in 2018. And Here I Am won best monodrama at Sharm El Sheikh International Theatre Festival For Youth in 2019. He was a Sundance Theatre Lab Fellow in 2020. He is also a Golden Thread Productions Resident Artist.
تشمل أعمال حسن عبد الرزاق مسرحيّات منها نذكر: العلاقة الخاصّة The Special Relationship (عُرضت على مسرح سوهو، عام 2020)، وها أنا And Here I Am (عُرضت على مسرح أركولا، عام 2017 وفي خلال جولة في المملكة المتّحدة وجولة أوروبا والشّرق الأوسط وأفريقيا، عامي 2018-2019)، الحبّ والقنابل والتّفاح Love, Bombs and Apples (عُرضت على مسرح أركولا، عام 2016 وفي جولة في المملكة المتّحدة؛ ومسرح Golden Thread في سان فرانسيسكو، عام 2018 من ثمّ في خلال جولة ثانية في المملكة المتحدة. كما عُرضت في مركز كندي، في العاصمة واشنطن عام 2019)، النّبي The Prophet (عُرضت على مسرح Gate، عام 2012) وعرس بغداد Baghdad Wedding (عُرضت على مسرح سوهو في لندن، عام 2007؛ راديو بي بي سي 3، عام 2008؛ ومسرح بلفوار ستريت في سيدني عام 2009؛ ومسرح Akvarious productions في دلهي ومومباي عام 2010).
كان قد ترجم عدداً من المسرحيّات كُتبت باللّغة العربيّة بما فيها «Jogging» من تأليف حنان الحاج علي (عُرضت على مسرح Gate عام 2019 وفي جولة حول العالم)، وقائع مدينة لا نعرفها Chronicles of a City We Never Knew من تأليف وائل قدور (تّمت قراءتها في مسرح Gate عام 2019)، وVoluntary Work (العمل التّطوّعي) من تأليف ليلى سليمان (تمّت قراءتها في مسرح رويال كورت عام 2012) و603 من تأليف عماد فرجين (تمّت قراءتها في مسرح رويال كورت عام 2008).
حوّل مسرحيّة عرس بغداد إلى فيلم روائيّ طويل لـشركة الانتاج والتّوزيع Focus Features، وكتب عملاً سينمائياً بعنوان Cutting Season عالج فيه موضوع تشويه الأعضاء التّناسلية الأنثويّة لشركة الانتاج والتّوزيع New Century. كما كتب أربع حلقات لـ”حوجن” (HWJN)، وهو مسلسل تلفزيونيّ طلب عمله كلّ من شركتي الانتاج O3 وImage Nation.
كتب حلقة من The Good Listener، وهو مسلسل دراميّ يُعرض على إذاعة بي بي سي 4 يركّز على مكاتب الاتّصالات الحكوميّة البريطانيّة (GCHQ)، وكتب المسلسل كلّ من Fin Kennedy وBoz Temple-Morris وتم بثّه في عام 2018.
أمّا مساهماته في عدد من المختارات فهي تشمل الأعمال التّالية: وطن بمثابة منزل A Country to Call Home (طبعة صادرة عن دارUnbound للنّشر، عامّ 2018)، لا داعي للذّعر، أنا إسلامي Don’t Panic, I’m Islamic (دار السّاقي، عام 2017)، العراق+100: قصص بعد قرن من الغزو – Iraq+100: Stories from a century after the invasion (مطبعة Comma، عام 2016) وبلد للملجأ A Country of Refuge (طبعة صادرة عن دارUnbound للنّشر، عام 2016).
حاز على جوائز جورج ديفين وماير ويتوورث ومسرح بيرسون بالإضافة إلى جائزة المركز البريطانيّ العربيّ للثّقافة. وفاز عمله الحبّ والقنابل والتّفاح Love, Bombs and Apples بجائزة Bay Area المسرحيّة للإنتاج المتميّز في عام 2018. أمّا عمله وها أنا And Here I am ففاز بجائزة أفضل مونودراما في مهرجان شرم الشيخ المسرحيّ الدولي للشّباب في عام 2019. وأخيراً، كان زميلًا في حلقة العمل لمسرح صندانس في عام 2020 إضافةً إلى كونه فنان مقيم في مسرح Golden Thread Productions.
